How we score concreters
ConcreterScore scores Australian concreters out of 100 from public data. Every input is shown on the business's page with the date we checked it.
Reviewed 17 Oct 2026.
| Input | Points | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| Google rating | 35 | 5.0 earns 35, 4.8 and up 30, 4.5 and up 22, 4.0 and up 12, below that 0 |
| Review count | 25 | 200 or more earns 25, 100 or more 20, 50 or more 15, 20 or more 10, 10 or more 5, fewer 0 |
| Review recency | 10 | Latest review within 30 days earns 10, 90 days 7, 180 days 4, 365 days 2 |
| Licence match | 20 | Queensland: a current QBCC licence matched to the business by name earns 20. Other states: check pending, left out of the score and rescaled |
| Years trading | 10 | ABN active 10 years or more earns 10, 5 years 7, 2 years 4, less 1 |
What each input means
Google rating and review count. We pull both from each business's Google profile. We never edit them.
Review recency. We read the date of the latest review, because a rating from years ago may no longer fit the business. If we cannot get review dates, we drop this input and rescale.
Licence match. In Queensland we check the business against the QBCC register by name, on a dated check. A current match earns 20. If the licence is lapsed or suspended it earns 0 and we flag it. If we find no match it earns 0 and the page says "not matched in register". That means we could not find a match. It does not mean the business has no licence, because names sometimes differ and some work needs no licence. In other states the check is pending, so licence is left out of the score.
Years trading. We read the date the ABN became active on the Australian Business Register. It shows how long the business has lasted, not how good the work is. Until we have looked up a business's ABN, this input is left out and the score is rescaled.
Businesses are ranked by score. Ties go to the business with more Google reviews. Nobody can pay to change a score or a position.
It does not measure the quality of a pour or whether a quote was fair. It measures what public data can show.
Where the data comes from
- Google business profiles: pulled monthly, with the pull date on each page.
- Licence register: Queensland, matched by name against the QBCC register each month. Checks for New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia are pending, and pages in those states say so.
- Australian Business Register: ABN status and start date.
When an input cannot apply
When an input is not available for a business, we remove its points and rescale to 100. In a state where the licence check is pending, the licence input is removed for every business there. Years trading and review recency are removed until we hold the data. The page shows the number of points it was built from.
How the Reply Test works
Status: the Reply Test has not run yet. This is the method for the first round, and every business shows “Not tested yet” until then.
Once a quarter we send each listed business one standard enquiry through its published contact channel and log how long it takes to reply and whether it gives a ballpark figure. We publish counts by suburb and a dated badge on each listing. The result is not part of the score. To opt out, use this form. Results
How we build the price figures
Prices per square metre come from written quotes that homeowners and concreters send us and from ballpark figures given in reply to our standard enquiry (the Reply Test), each with a suburb and a date. Each cost page says how many of each it holds. We publish a city figure only when we hold at least 10 prices for the city, and we show the middle half of prices, not the extremes. Until then we show published ranges, labelled as such, next to a by-city table.
Corrections, with a record
Ratings and reviews are Google's and we cannot change them. To correct any other detail or to remove a listing, use the correction form. Confirmed errors are fixed on the next monthly rebuild, or sooner.
Request removal
To ask for a listing to be removed, use the removal form. Removal requests are reviewed separately from scoring corrections.
How we make money
Some businesses pay for labelled spots such as a featured partner box. Paid spots never change a score or an order. Details are on how we make money.
